Parent-Child Counseling

Restoring Connection Through Understanding

Are you feeling disconnected from the child you love?

Is your child acting out, shutting down, or withdrawing?

Is your child having emotional outbursts and being hyper-focused on fitting in?

Do simple conversations turn into arguments or power struggles?

These symptoms are often a child’s attempt to express an unmet need. When parents learn to look beneath the behavior and respond to the underlying emotional need, children feel more seen, understood, and supported. In turn, they naturally develop greater confidence, responsibility, and resilience.

The parent-child relationship is one of the most powerful healing forces in a child’s life. I help families transform conflict into connection.

My Approach

My work helps parents and children move beyond blame, power struggles, and punishment. What I have learned after nearly 20 years of working with children, teens, and families is that lasting change begins when we understand what the child’s behavior is trying to communicate

Together, we explore:

  • The unmet emotional needs beneath the behavior
  • Cultivating trust and emotional safety during challenging moments
  • Communication skills that help family members feel heard, understood, and valued
  • Family patterns that may be contributing to conflict
  • How to support a child’s emotional expression
  • Skills for helping parents navigate their child’s big emotions with greater confidence

Often, what appears as difficult behavior is a child’s best attempt to navigate feelings that they do not yet have the language, skills, or support to express. As parents learn to look beneath their child’s behavior and respond to the underlying emotional need, children feel more seen, understood, and supported. In turn, children naturally develop greater confidence, responsibility, and resilience.
